Dr. Michael Robinson
On June 6, 2016, Dr. Michael Robinson became the proud Superintendent of Pine Bluff School District (PBSD), Arkansas where there are 8 schools and approximately 4,100 scholars. Dr. Robinson is professionally known for his passion for and persistence in ensuring and assuring that all scholars are provided with the opportunity to learn and achieve excellence. Literacy and building a culture for learning where rigor is evident are essential elements that will be evident in Dr. Robinson’s work.
Before coming to PBSD, Dr. Robinson served 8 years in the capacity of middle school turnaround principal, Director of Priority/Turnaround Schools, and Instructional Director in Prince George’s County Public Schools, Maryland. The district consisted of 129,000 scholars and 208 schools. Within Dr. Robinson’s cluster, he supervised 13 schools consisting of over 10,000 scholars. He worked with multiple departments across the system. Previously, Dr. Robinson has worked as a middle school teacher, high school assistant principal, and elementary principal (metro Atlanta school districts) and an elementary, intermediate, and middle/junior high school teacher in Texas and Louisiana, his home state.
In 2004, Dr. Robinson obtained his Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Argosy University in Sarasota, Florida; 2003 – a Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership from Argosy University in Sarasota, Florida; 2002 – a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from Troy State University – Atlanta campus; 1996 – a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education (grades K – 8 and additional course work in English Education) from Southern University at New Orleans.
Dr. Robinson is a motivational speaker, member of Kappa Alpha Psi and Prince Hall Free & Accepted Mason, and professional organizations.
